JVA provides Electric Fencing for Animal Management, such as Dogs, Cats and other types of animals, which basically work as a psychological barrier. By giving the animal a short, sharp, safe jolt that is sufficiently unpleasant to discourage it from touching the wire again. In most cases, the first encounter with the electrified line is enough for the animal to associate line with a barrier not to cross.
Basic Circuits of an Electric Fence System
A Electric Fence for Dogs and Cats system consists of three components:
- an energizer,
- a fence line,
- and an earthing system.
By connecting the three, a circuit is created and electrons can now flow.
In the event that any one of these components is faulty, the whole system will be faulty. Whenever an animal touches the live wire, it closes the circuit and provides a path for electrons to flow between the positive, red terminal of the energizer and the negative, green terminal. The shock that the animal experiences is caused by the flow of electrons through it.

JVA Mains/12V DC Energizers
The JVA PET100 Electric Fence Energizers deliver 0.11 joules energy per pulse, while the MB1.5 Electric Fence Energizers deliver 1.5 joules per pulse.
It can be powered by a 12V DC battery when needed, or by 240V AC mains power where that is available. Optional JVA Solar Kits and external batteries are available

Garden Electric Fence
- Plan your fence layout
- Consider number of corners and access points, height of the pet/s, number of wires, etc.
- Support rods are normally spaced every 8m.
- Where ground is uneven, more rods may be required to prevent pets from creeping underneath
- For small pets, rods can be cut in half.
- Installing the Pet Rods and Spring Clips
- Squeeze each spring and slide it down the rod to the required height for each strand of wire.
- The live wire should be set at nose height to the pet/s you wish to contain.
- Knock the rods into the ground.
- Take the support rod 6-8m apart, ensuring that the wires are parallel to the contours of the ground
- Cabling
- If you have 2 non-adjacent sites, you will require some under gate cable to include both into the circuit.
- Gates
- Create a gate using tape and appropriate support rods if a walkway requires access through the fence.
- Wiring the Fence
- Most pet control fences require only live wires. Thread the Poliwire though the Spring Clips, starting from the energizer and tying off at the last clip in your circuit. In very dry conditions, an earth wire should be included.
- Using a series circuit, loop the Poliwire from start to finish, clipping the wire through the springs.
- Tensioning
- The fence is flimsy, so simply tension the fence by pulling it gently by hand so that the wires are parallel to the ground.
- Installing the Energizer
The energizer can be powered by mains, battery or battery with solar charging. Wiring can be all-live or alternate live earth. - Installing the energiser
- Mount the energizer on a wall or support post.
- Knock the galvanized earth stake into the ground close to the energizer.
- Using a piece of insulated wire, connect the green terminal of the energizer to the earth stake.
- Similarly, connect the red terminal of the energizer to the fence line.
- Switch on the energizer.
